Attack on Mumbai

27th Nov 2008 11:45 pm
It was a already a bad day at office. And the later half of the day, while I was at work I heard somone mentioning about another terror strike in Mumbair.. Yes yet again.. Came to know that some guys had just walked into the Mumbai station with AK 47s and openly fired at the crowd there. Initial reaction was that of shock. But soon it just sank in that this was never unexpected. Probably because the guys who have been ruling us have given little hope for an ordinary citizen to be positive in this..
As time progressed, news started pouring in of more and more attacks and that around 200 individuals were held hostage at various hotels like Taj and Oberoi which are like icons of successfull India. Felt really bad and felt agitated. Could not really work after that. Just while I was heading out met a colleague whose wife had travelled to Mumbai that day from here. She was safe and he seemed relieved. He said that she was taken to a safe location at Mumbai Airport. The dear once become dearer suddenly. Just like life too becomes dearer suddenly. As day progressed started getting more and more frustrated. The same statements from politicians, the same blame games. Just wondered whether we had a restart button for India. May be we have to take a second look at the principles of showing our other cheek when we are slapped on one. Why the hell do we need to that. Its time we slap back and kick his butt too so that he won't come back.
Read on some online community someone kind of justifying the attack saying "It was not on Indians. It was on Americans and Brits". Felt pathetic on the entire mankind after reading that. Luckily got a call from one of my friends to help him on a midnight drive :). It was a welcome break from such irresponsible remarks. But mind was still behind the heroes of the day. Hemand Karkare the ATS chief had got killed. Had read that he was also a wonderful human being and was a well known diplomat on international circles. Infact he himself had decided that he will be on ground to assist in the operation. Truly inspirational the way he risked his life. India need more icons like these and media have to put the focus on them rather than airing Mika and Rakhi Sawant scenes.

All these happened yesterday.. (26th)
Today I was still pondering over the news. The good NSG, ATS, MARCO nd Airforce have the situation in control. Heard another politician has arrived nearby to make a statement that he was not happy with the ruling party over how it handled the situation. Wow, atleast he should have waited for things to get over. Can't waste my keyboard's life on these fellas.
Oh by the way. This was my first blog :).. Created the account long time back.. Was checking out the profile of a new found buddy on facebook. Noticed she has a good blog.. It made an interesting reading. And by coincidence, I had too much to tell but there was no one around to listen and hence ended up here. Feeling much lighter now :)
Was telling to one of my friends today that the strategy of living every moment of life till now has suddenly proved so correct . who knows.... :)
